Important Information from Blackbaud

Migration of Blackbaud ID authentication

To enhance the security and stability of Blackbaud solutions, we are updating authentication for Blackbaud ID in a move that will provide a variety of improvements, including:
  • Improved reliability for Blackbaud ID
  • An easier, more intuitive sign-in experience

User impact

We are making the migration as seamless as possible for all users of Blackbaud solutions, but some users will need to take one-time actions.

Email/Password users

For Email/Password users who authenticate through Blackbaud's secure service, passwords are migrated automatically when users sign in.
However, if users enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA), they are prompted to set up MFA again and must do so before their passwords can then be migrated.

Social sign-in users

For social sign-in users who authenticate through social networking service, such as Apple or Google, users are prompted to reauthorize Blackbaud to access their name and email.

Example: If you authenticate through Google

Example if you authenticate through Apple ID: (Be sure to select "Hide My Email" radio button if you use this option.  See picture below)

Redesigned sign-in experience

In addition to the authentication updates, we are also redesigning the Blackbaud ID sign-in page to optimize the user experience. We'll promote the preferred authentication strategies to encourage users to sign in with the easiest and quickest route.

Existing SSO workflows that bypass the sign-in page and take users to their identity provider will work the same as before the migration. Users who previously bypassed the sign-in page will continue to land on the next authentication step as expected.
