  • Donate a Marketable Security

Gifts of publicly-traded securities can be a tax-wise method of giving because you:

    •  May claim a charitable tax deduction based on the gift's full fair-market value (average of the high and low trading price on the transfer date) of the security.
    •  Avoid paying capital gains tax on the security if it has appreciated since you acquired it.

If you plan to initiate a securities transfer to Rockhurst High School, please contact us below.

  • Give Through My Donor Advised Fund

Donor-advised funds (DAF) are charitable giving vehicles that allow donors to make charitable contributions at any time, with an immediate tax benefit, while maintaining flexibility on timing for grants.

You transfer cash or other assets to a tax-exempt sponsoring organization such as a public foundation. You can then recommend – but not direct – how much and how often money is granted. In addition, you avoid the cost and complexities of managing a private foundation.

In return, you qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction at the time you contribute to the account. This also allows for a centralized giving and record-keeping system in one location.
