Summer Camp: College Application Essay Class

The college application process takes time, preparation and creativity. This essay class is designed to help you, the student, competently and confidently complete your college application essay.  In this course you will:

  1.  Learn how to read and understand the purpose and corresponding tasks of a college or scholarship application essay prompt;
  2.  Demonstrate successful reading of the 6 Common Application prompts and one other prompt particular to a given university of interest to you;
  3.  Hear and respond to a talk on individually finding and choosing the right college;
  4.  Learn and practice how to recognize and relate meaningful stories and experiences from your every-day life to create authentic and effective personal essay responses;
  5.  Learn and practice key skills of crafting efficient and powerful essays within tight word limits;
  6.  Craft, revise, and polish three application essays (one common application, one non-common application university essay and one scholarship essay);
  7.  And, finally, leave the course feeling confident about writing college and scholarship application essays, more peaceful and excited about your college search.
