Senior Pianist to Perform in Rome

Senior Matthew Roxas has been a staple in the Rockhurst instrumental music program since his freshman year.  He is best known for his talent as a pianist.

Roxas began piano lessons at the age of three, and has been working to perfect his art ever since.  His list of accomplishments over the years is extensive, but his latest is one of the most notable.

He was selected as the 1st prize winner of the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition.  For his award, he will be performing in December at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Teatro Studio, in Rome, Italy - which is considered the equivalent to the Carnegie in the U.S.

This comes after being a 2nd prize winner of the same competition in London in 2016; Roxas was invited to perform at Royal Albert Hall in London.

"I am very thankful that God gave me a wonderful talent. I am blessed to have the opportunity to perform at such a famous venue in Rome, Italy," said Roxas.  "This is very special to me because this will be my first Winner's Recital outside the United States."

He continues to strive to become a concert pianist.
