A Day of Reflection, Renewal and Rededication

TIME: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
PLACE: Rockhurst High School (9301 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri)
PARTICIPANTS: Alumni and Fathers of the Rockhurst community

Since 1994, the men of Rockhurst High School have gathered once a year to pause and enjoy a moment of calm in their busy lives.  To reflect about their own lives and the lives of those they have influenced.  To renew their drive to be the best husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, and friends they can possibly be.  To rededicate themselves as Catholic Christians devoted in the lifelong service of Christ.

This year the day will focus on “GOD MOMENTS.

Many people never listen to God because they are not aware that He speaks to them.  Yet, God does speak.  Our patron, St. Ignatius of Loyola, believed God is constantly communicating with us.  One way to live in His presence is to acquire the habit of recognizing His voice when He speaks.  If we do not know that God wishes to communicate with us, or the ways He has chosen, we miss a wonderful blessing of growing closer to Him.

When does God speak to us?  He speaks at all times, especially in prayer.  Prayer is a conversation with God.  It is not a monologue.  When we pray, we should listen, and be a good listener.  Unfortunately, many of us have never trained ourselves to listen to His voice.  How can we reflect upon and discuss the “God Moments” in our lives, as a healthy devotion to prayer and part of the Jesuit ideal of spirituality – finding a “pathway to God?”  This will be our focus as “men for others” devoted to
the greater honor and glory of God.

The day will begin with coffee and donuts 8:30 a.m. in Rockhurst High School’s Pesci Atrium located inside the main State Line Road entrance.  Parking will be available in front of the school or in the south lot.  Lunch will be served and participants will have the opportunity to take part in  the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the course of the day.

Guests are encouraged to bring a Bible for use during personal reflection.

The program will conclude with the Celebration of the Mass at 3:00 p.m.  FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO JOIN US FOR MASS IN THE LAURA AND JOHN J. SULLIVAN, SR. CHAPEL OF THE SACRED HEART, WHICH FULFILLS THE SUNDAY OBLIGATION.

Admission for the Day of Reflection is free, so bring a friend!
