Speech & Debate Team Excels in Tournaments

The weekend before Thanksgiving Break, the Rockhurst Speech & Debate Team competed at tournaments hosted by Park Hill South, Ladue Horton Watkins, and North Kansas City High Schools.

At Park Hill South, the Novice Squad took 1st Place in Overall Sweepstakes. In Novice Public Forum Debate, the freshman team of Caleb Dawson & Aidan O'Donnell took 1st Place for the third competition in a row, while the freshman team of Brett Doherty and Jagger McCarroll took 3rd Place. Additionally, freshmen Andrew Puthumana and Joseph Steven closed out Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate while also taking 1st and 2nd Place in United States Extemporaneous Speaking, respectively. Carver Lawson took 2nd Place in Original Oratory.
At the Ladue Horton Watkins Novice Tournament, freshman Brennan Harris took 2nd Place in Storytelling, while freshman Daniel Hiles was a Quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and took 5th Place in Radio Speaking.

At the North Kansas City Varsity Tournament, senior Sean Kueny won Storytelling. Sophomore James Donohue took 1st Place in Regular Lincoln-Douglas Debate, while junior Isaiah Moncrieffe took 3rd Place. The team of sophomore Matthew McLeese and junior Jackson Porter took 1st Place in Regular Public Forum Debate, while the sophomore team of Grant Anielak and Andrew Shipman took 3rd Place.
