Rev. Terrence A. Baum, SJ
President
Rev. Terrence A. Baum, SJ, became the 16th President of Rockhurst High School in 2004. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the institution and oversees all aspects of the school's day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and Ignatian Identity. Rev. Terrence A. Baum, SJ joined the Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus in 1973. Earlier that year he earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University, Cincinnati. He taught for three years at St. Ignatius College Prep, Chicago prior to his theological studies at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology, Cambridge, MA. He was ordained in 1981. In 1991 he earned an M.S. in Administration and Supervision from Fordham University.
As an administrator, Fr. Baum has served in three other schools: Academic Assistant Principal at St. Xavier High School, Cincinnati (1984-1989), Headmaster at Xavier High School, NYC (1991-1997), and Headmaster/Principal at Loyola Academy, Wilmette, IL. (1997-2003). He was installed as the sixteenth president of Rockhust High School in February of 2004. He is a member of the board of directors of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association (JSEA), and Boys Hope Girls Hope, Kansas City. He has previously served on the boards of Regis High School (NYC), Loyola School (NYC) and Nativity School (NYC). His interests include literature, theater, classical music (especially opera and vocal music), travel, calligraphy, and enjoying a good meal with friends.
