Fall Sports Try-outs/Practices




Fall Sports Reminders!
1.  Each student-athlete must have a physical form (downloaded from the Rockhurst website) on file before tryouts for fall sports begins (Monday, August 9th).  Any physical dated after February 1, 2010 is adequate for the entire school year 2010-11.  Physicals should be mailed to Jean Pryor at Rockhurst High School.
2.  Trying out for multiple sports at the same time is NOT allowed.
 
3.  Fall sport athletes that need locks for athletic lockers must purchase a lock from the Rockhurst "Rock Shop".  Call RHS for summer hours of operation for the "Rock Shop".

Baseball Puts a Banner on the Wall!
The varsity baseball team defeated Oakville 4-3 in the 3rd place game at the MSHSAA State Tournament on Saturday night.  The Hawklets lost to CBC 9-2 in the semifinal game on Friday night, but bounced back to win the 3rd place game and therefore, will be able to hang a banner on the wall in the gym!  Congrats to Coach Jim DeGraw and the entire team for an excellent season.

Lacrosse Holds on to Win MSLA State Championship
The varsity lacrosse team defeated Eureka 8-6 Saturday May 29 at Lindenwood University to take home their fourth MSLA State Championship.  Congratulations to the lacrosse team!

Congrats to Coach Jay Coleman for being named the MSLA Coach of the Year in 2010!


Varsity Tennis Finishes 2nd in State Finals!
Congratulations to the Varsity Tennis Team for defeating Kirkwood in the semifinals 5-1, and then taking Rock Bridge to the last match of doubles before losing in the third and final set.

Congrats and Fare Well to Coach Ron Geldhof as he coached his last tennis match as the head tennis coach.  Coach Geldhof is retiring from teaching and coaching at Rockhurst after 37 years.

Golf goes wire-to-wire to Win Title!
The varsity golf team won the MO Class 4 State Championship on Tuesday after being tied for the the lead going into Tuesday's final round.  Hawklets held off Rock Bridge, Poplar Bluff, and DeSmet to take first place honors.  Congrats to Coach Mike O'Leary and the Varsity Golf Team!

Herriot takes 8th at State Track
Sophomore Zach Herriot finished in 8th place in the 3200 meter run at the Track & Field State Championships on Friday, May 28th in Jefferson City.  Congrats to Zach and Head Coach Mike Dierks for another great year!
 
Game Cancellations?
Parents should check the athletic website or contact their son's coach for information on game cancellations. 
Note:  Most often, games are not cancelled until after 12:00pm (noon) on game day.


Directions to Games?
If you need directions to home or away games, contact your son's coach, or use mapquest or google maps.
